Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase/carbonyl reductase ( 3α-HSD/CR,EC 1.1.1.50 ) from Comamonas testosteroni is an inducible enzyme which catalyzes the oxidation of androsterone with NAD+ to form androstanedione and NADH. 3α-HSD/CR was a member of the SDRs family, whose crystal structure had been solved by X-ray diffraction in 2000.
