During the reign of the Republic of China, Fujian, a coastal province, was one of the areas severely afflicted with brigandism, this paper explores the phenomenon of brigandism in Fujian from year 1912 to 1949, revealing the ups and downs the regional distribution and thrivingness of brigandism in that period as well as the relevant hows and whys.

民国时期，地处中国东南沿海的福建是匪患的重灾区之一，本文考察了民国时期(1912年——1949年)福建的土匪问题，揭示该时期福建土匪的兴亡、区域分布的概况和勃兴的缘由，探索了政治、经济、自然等因素与福建土匪之间的关系，由此我们可以得出了这样的结论：民国时期福建土匪的活动极其猖獗，这不仅与当时福建恶劣的政治、经济、自然环境有着一定的关系，而且与福建的特殊社会环境(民军、土著军阀、氏族武装、民间械斗、秘密会社组织等)有着密切的联系。
