Bill Ding had started when Dan was still just a high school student on the north side of Chicago and after high school it was time for college in southern Illinois at Carbondale where Dan began recording under the moniker Loss, slowly exploring the textures of Dub, folk, jazz, LSD driven rock and Drum n Bass, eventually spending more time in front of the four-track than the blackboard.
