A sample numerical design method for constant beamwidth beamformer is given. This method is easy to implement and has no restriction on array geometry and sensor patterns; Three methods for the design of broadband frequency invariant beamformer are proposed, which are the method of resampling signals received by the array, the DFT interpolation method and adaptive synthesis method, respectively. Examples and performance analyses are given for each method; A simplified linear constrained minimum variance broadband adaptive algorithm that based on DFT interpolation method is presented. Compared with conventional broadband adaptive algorithms, the presented method can reduce computation work greatly.

Conceptually, we present the principle of optimality for defuzzification and the optimal defuzzification mapping; methodologically, we convert the problem of finding the optimal defuzzification mapping into the one of finding the optimal parameters, suggesting a specific method for its realization—POD method; operationally, we advance that the learning of the parameters for defuzzification can be realized by the learning process using extended Kalman filter.

Finally, a kind of optimizing joint algorithm for symbol timing, frequency synchronization and channel estimation is proposed. The false alarm probability and miss detect probability of the symbol timing are derived. We proved that the time-frequency offset domain random sequence sliding in the frequency offset direction is orthogonal with the original random sequence, and proposed a new integer frequency offset estimation algorithm. The coarse estimation methods for fractional frequency offset both in AWGN and multipath channels are proposed too.

The main works include five parts:(1) A modified K-means algorithm for optimizing the RBPNNs' structures was proposed;(2) The RBPNNs' structure optimization method based on the orthogonal least square algorithm was proposed that can greatly reduce the computation expense for the structure optimization;(3) Using the GA to perform the whole structure optimization of the RBPNNs was proposed in this thesis, which include simultaneous optimization of the hidden centers and the corresponding controlling parameters of the kernel functions.
