From Mar. 1987 to Feb. 1990, 19 patients (20 eyes) with chronic angle closure glaucoma underwent argon laser trabeculoplasty 1 month-33 months after laser iridotomy due to uncontrollable lop with maximal tolerable antiglaucoma medication. 15 eyes (75%) were successful within 6 months after ALTP whose IOP remained less than 20 mmHg and no advance in VF defect and optic nerve damage.

The rate of clinical success, defined as cured plus improved patients, was 75% for levofloxacin and 72.8% for ciprofloxacin (95% confidence interval for the difference in the success rates,-13.27 to 8.87). There were 51 boys and 14 girls; age range was 38 to 80 months (median age, 60 months). Allergens used were house dust mites in 42 patients, grass pollen in 11, olive pollen in five, Parietaria pollen in four, and cypress pollen in three patients. Adverse reactions and changes in the treatment schedule were compared in children aged 38 to 60 months vs those aged 61 to 80 months.
