The main causes of hoarseness were different in different age groups, carcinoma of larynx and paralysis of vocal cord were for the aged, polyp and nodule of vocal cord, and chronic laryngitis for the youth and adult, and chronic laryngitis, nodule of vocal cord and papillomas for children.
