This paper first attempts to discuss the above three theories and to find some drawbacks, and then gives a brief comprehensive discussion of several main paradigms. The perfect one is gender constructivism, a new school thought that appears in Western countries in 1990's, falling into pluralistic thinking. The constructionists hold that gender does not preexist, it is constructed in community of practice and constrained by other factors also.

本文旨在对以上三种传统理论学说做简要概述，说明其存在的一些弊端，然后阐述了语言学界几大学术流派在这方面的研究成果，其中最为完善的当属社会性别建构主义论，它形成于20世纪90年代，核心观点是性别是在交际活动中建构的，而不是事先存在的，也不是固定不变的，但性别的构成也不完全是自由的，它要受到社会、历史、文化等诸多其他因素的制约。
