The main study areas of SEIZE include:(1)physical nature of asperity;(2)temporal relationships among stress, strain, and pore fluid pressure throughout the earthquake cycle;(3)controls on the updip and downdip limits of the seismogenic zone of subduction thrusts;(4)nature of tsunamigenic earthquake zones;(5)role of large thrust earthquake in mass flux.

SEIZE的主要研究内容包括：①凸凹体的物理性质；②在地震周期里，应力、应变和孔隙流体成分随时间的变化；③在俯冲逆冲断层上，发震带上界和下界的确定；④引起海啸的发震带的特征；⑤大型逆冲带地震在物质转换过程中所起的作用。

According to the result of test for localization and shear bands formation under the consolidated undrained plane strain compression test on soft clay in Shanghai, the calculation model and parameters for method of foundation pit enclosing are discussed in this paper and some useful conclusions are obtained.

根据上海软土在固结不排水平面应变压缩试验条件下，应变局部化和剪切带形成的实测研究结果，对基坑围护理论的计算模型和计算参数作了探讨，得到了一些有价值的结论。

The results show that the alloy undergoes obvious plastic elongation, the specimen fractures into four sections and the diameter changes from 16 mm to 12 mm. The fracture surfaces distribute randomly well developed and partially developed veinal patterns. The deformation behavior of alloy is non-Newtonian flow behavior. About 3% amorphous matrix of extruded specimen transforms crystal, the crystal particles with size of 10-20 mm are precipitated in the amorphous matrix, the thermostability of the extruded specimen was lowered. The failure of the alloy is mainly attributed to non-uniform viscous flow under high strain rate resulting from the hydrostatic extrusion process.

结果表明：非晶合金在高应变速率下产生了明显的塑性变形，直径从16 mm变为12 mm，断裂为4段，且样品断口上随机分布着充分发展与未充分发展的脉纹式切变带，由此可看出非晶合金的变形为非牛顿体变形行为；挤压后的样品约有3％的非晶相发生晶化，在非晶基体上析出10～20 nm的纳米晶粒，导致挤压后非晶合金的热稳定性降低；静液挤压高应变速率变形条件使非晶合金产生非均匀流变，是造成非晶合金断裂的主要原因。

The results indicate that the μ of the asphalt mixtures has significant effect on the maximal lateral and shear strains. When the modulus ratio of the top and middle lagers is less than 0.8 and the μ of the asphalt top layer increases to a certain extent, the asphalt mixtures around the edge of wheel mark tend to flow towards both sides of the rut under the action of load, leading to the unstable rut.

结果表明，沥青面层的泊松比对沥青路面结构的最大横向应变和最大剪应变有显著影响：当上中面层模量比小于0.8且沥青面层泊松比增大到一定程度时，轮迹带边缘的沥青混合料在荷载作用下有向车辙两侧流动的趋势，容易产生失稳性车辙。
