The combined model of neural network and traditional mathematic models is studied in this paper to overcome the problems of calculation of parameter preset values of complex industrial process, and practical application of this method in process automation of hot rolling is emphatically analyzed and discussed. According to the running results of a hot strip mill for more than three years, the successful application of neural network created the advantageous condition of improving the product quality and automation level of hot strip mill.
