The discovery of superconductivity with a critical temperature higher than 40 K in the iron arsenide LnFeAs has drawn much interest in condensed matter physics.

In this project, the microstructures of a kind of green chafer cuticle are observed with a scanning electron microscope and other microscopic instruments. The results of the observations show that the basic microstructural characteristic of the cuticle is similar to man-made fiber-reinforced composite, the laminated chitin fibers embedded in protein matrix provide the strength and toughness of the cuticle.
