The investigators examined fetal outcome data from 972 pregnancies collected from 1997 to 2002 in a nested case-control study. The participants were nulliparous and had no known medical complications. Pregnancies were grouped in eight categories based on the presence or absence of combinations of hypertension, hyperuricemia, and proteinuria.

研究者检验自1997年至2002年一项病例控制试验中972次怀孕的妊娠结果，受试者皆为第一次怀孕，而且没有已知的其他疾病；根据高血压、尿酸过高、与蛋白尿的有无，将怀孕分为8个项目。

Methods A total of 2 285 community residents, at the age of 51±16 years, from 4 different communities in Beijing, were randomly recruited in this cross-sectional investigation. Questionnaire was used to collect their medical history. Their PWV was detected by oscillometry. Laboratory tests were performed to detect their basal biochemical parameters including serum glucose, uric acid, lipid, and creatinine.

北京4个社区入选2 285名18-96岁居民，平均年龄51±16岁，用问卷调查方法采集病史，自动示波测量仪检测PWV，同期化验血脂、肌酐、尿酸、血糖等指标，简化的MDRD公式估测肾小球滤过率。
