The benefits from this continuing project include the return of small fish to the streams and the population expansion of the rare New Zealand Scaup, a small native duck whose existence was threatened, as well as a much better understanding of waterway management by Christchurch politicians and local people, an important aspect, as Christchurch is a city built on a swamp.

这个项目目前仍在进行，带来了很多好处：小鱼重返河流，新西兰稀少的小潜鸭数目增加，这种土生的小鸭过去生存受到过威胁，另外当地的官员和人民也对航道的管理有了更多的了解，这一点非常重要，因为我们这个城市是在沼泽地上建起来的。

这里面有世界最大的鸟——鸵鸟；有世界上第二小的小鸟——珍珠鸟；有飞得最高的鸟——天鹅；有鸟中潜水冠军——凤头潜鸭……特别值得一提的是：其中有五十余种鸟类，都属于海南独有的鸟类或亚种，一般游客是难得一见的。

We spent four days at Indawgyi in late January 2003 and recorded many waterbirds. Species of interest are: Globally threatened Spot-billed Pelicans (47 birds recorded), Lesser Adjutants (17 birds), Black-necked Stork (1 bird), near-threatened Oriental Darters (71 birds), Ferruginous Ducks (809 birds).

我们的考察队在2003年1月下旬在这里做了四天野外调查，见到的水鸟很多，其中值得一记的是一些濒危鸟类如斑嘴鹈鹕（所谓&指名亚种&，记录到47只），小秃鹳（17只），黑颈鹳（1只），准濒危鸟类如蛇鹈（71只），白眼潜鸭（809只）等。
