Abstrac t : Pig image played a very important role in Chinese prehistoric belief system and is traditionally considered as a symbol concerning fertility cult. In analyzing archaeological discoveries and citing related information from ancient literature and ethnography, author argues that the phenomenon of pig-worship should be a reflection of an idea regarding breath and life-cycle.
