Methods and results We assume the carotid arterial wall is the elastic material so we can use the Hooke's law to analyze it. The experiment is based on the use of ultrasound B-mode imaging technique and the off-line image analysis. Elastic tube phantom experiments demonstrated the validity of the technique, providing the size of the tube within 3% of the actual values. The system was also tested in the common carotid arteries of 10 healthy males (age 23.6 y). 2Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100049, ChinaAbstract: Two sets of dehydrationmelting with a natural solid amphibolite(56vol.% hornblende, 43vol.% plagioclase), collected from the DabainengLeyu profile in the southern Ailaoshan orogenic belt, Honghe County, Yunnan Province, have been carried out in multianvil apparatus(YJ3000t and JL3600t) at 1035 GPa and 950 ℃ for 20300 h. One is keeping the temperature at 950 ℃ and the annealing time of 100 h, varying the pressure (1035 GPa). The other is keeping the pressure at 30 GPa and temperature at 950 ℃, varying the annealing time (20300 h). The products are inspected with microscope and electron probe.

Some methods of how to generate self-similar process and a few means of estimating self-similar parameter are given. Self-similar traffics are generated by using of ON/OFF model with heavy-tailed distribution and results are given. The results of experiment accord with the theory. This identicalness indicates that the method of getting results by using of ON/OFF model is feasible.
