The result showed that the daily gains, carcass weight and dressing percentage in Angus hybrid were highest among three kinds of hybrids, and the fattening effect in Angus hybrid is better than that of Simmental and Charolais hybrids.

For this purpose, genotyping was performed on males of 18 Angus, 23 Jinnan cattle, 20 Limousin, 28 Luxi cattle, 26 Qinchuan cattle, 29 Simmental, 29 Charolais. In the association studies traits of interest were analyzed using the RFLP-PCR and GLM procedure of SAS 9.1 and least square means of the genotypes were compared by the Tukey' s test.

Pro-opiomelanocortin plays an important role on animal ingestive behavior and energy homeostasis. Genetic variation of POMC was detected by PCR-SSCP and DNA sequencing techniques in 480 individuals from seven cattle breeds (i.e., Qinchuan, Nanyang, Jiaxian Red cattle, Jinnan, Luxi, Angus, and Chinese Holstein), and association analyses were carried out to evaluate the effects of genotypes of the candidate genes on growth traits in Nanyang cattle.

Different genotypes were determined in Luxi monotocous cows, Luxi twinning cows, Chinese Simmental cows, Angus cows and Simmental×Mongolia cows by restriction fragment length polymorphism. The value of polymorphism information content indicated that this was a moderate polymorphism in Luxi monotocous cows and Luxi twinning cows.
