Co-Chair, Piano DepartmentDirector, Eastman Young Artists International Piano Competition and FestivalDouglas Humpherys was Gold Medalist at the inaugural Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. He has concertized throughout Asia, Europe, and North America, including recent concerts in Beijing, Hong Kong, Guanzhou, Wuhan, Seoul, Berlin, Hamburg, Dublin, Venice, Prague, and Novgorod, Russia. Humpherys completed his master's degree at the Juilliard School and received his doctorate from the Eastman School of Music.

The author first discusses the consistency of spiritual pursuit in law and literature, and then sums up the points under discussion in the two works: Antigone and The Merchant of Venice. The author points out that law spirit of the realistic pursuit includes conventionalizing of the pursuit of justice while justice in literature is interpreted from a new, poetic and ideal perspective.
