By using the direct distillation principle, an improved and quick method which can determine the protein content in maize, soybean meal, rapeseed meal, fish meal, wheat bran, formula feed for swine and formula feed for chicken was established. The result of the study on 142 products belonging to 7 kinds of feedstuffs in three laboratories suggested that: the DD method has fine correlation with the National Standard Method. The relative deviation of the two methods was in conform to the National Standard. The coefficient of variation between different laboratoies was lower than 3%, the coefficient of variation within single laboratory was lower than 2%.
