In this thesis, the mathematics model was used to simulatc the alage growth in Lake Taihu; An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to monitor the spatial and temporal distribution in 2001; The microcystis spp was culturede with scendesmus obliqaus to study the toxin secrete mechanism of the MC from the population competition; The degradation of the MC by the sediment collected from Lake Taihu and one of the submerged mcrophyte Elodea nuttalli were discussed.

Investigation of sediment depth was made and the results show most of the sediments are deposited in the western shore-line area and Meiliang Bay. The laboratory results raise the possibility that there is significant difference in chemical or physical properities in the upper 10cm sediment, which suggests sediments are frequently resuspended in this layer.
