The work in this thesis is based on continued fraction theory. Combining continued fractions with polynomial functions, we construct a new osculatory continued fraction interpolation—osculatory rational Hermite-like interpolation. Firstly, we prove that if we select nodes properly, and let the distance between these nodes sufficiently small, cubic polynomial spline can approximate a continuously differentiable function, which with continuous derivatives of second order and discontinuity of the first kind in the derivatives of fourth order, to any desirable accuracy. This result lays a theoretical foundation for representing trajectories by splines and double orthogonal basis.

This is an untouched measuring way. The cameras are calibrated in the way of RAC two steps, first. With the polynomial interpolation, the pictures catched from the steel plate are treated to detect the edge in subpixel with a cross window arithmetic operators, which can fit non uniform illumination, keep the edge character and do filter in a better way. Three-dimensional scenery could be rebuilt from the two-dimensional pictures with the methods of least square fitting and contradictorily clairvoyance. Thus, the distance and its variance of two points in the given position of the plate can be achieved. It is expected that this study can provide a new and useful tool to the research on the theory of distortion of line heating.

Using different weight functions, we discuss the convergence on weighted space of polynomials and rate of convergence with Jacobi weight for this kind of two-dimensional product-type operators, which extends the results of one-dimensional operators.
