We propose a new higher order classification of the Gekkota that reflect these results. The new classification recognize three families within the Pygopodidae sensu Kluge (1987), i.e. Pygopodidae (restrict to the reduced-limbed taxa), Carphodactylidae and Diplopodactylidae.
