Zhangtianqu oilfield locates in the center of Yixia west slope, Ordos Basin. The field has a complex hydrocarbon-bearing bed set. On principle that lithology and reservoir can be identified, geologic parameters such as shale content, porosity, and oil saturation can be determined and be used to distinguish oil-bearing formation from water formation, as well as costeffectiveness, an improved logging interpretation model has been established. The model extends conventional single porosity interpretation methodology to identify various lithologies (such as coal seam, radioactive sandstone, carbonate rock besides sandstone and shale) by comprehensively analyzing the logging responses of sand reservoirs on economic logging set of acoustic logs and induction logs. Applications on real data show the improved model is superior in identifying complex lithology with conventional logging data.
