Works on marine micropaleontology in China started in the late 1950's, and in the last thirty years, the marine micropaleontology in China has been greatly expanded into a full-fledged discipline that includes taxonomy, ecology, sedimentology, biostratigraphy, paleoenvironmental analysis and geologic resources prospecting, and deals with finding and explaining various species buildup, ecologic condition, sedimentary distribution, and their historical processes.

中国的海洋微体古生物学研究开始于20世纪50年代末，当时属于起始摸索阶段。真正发展并奠定基础的时期是在近30年以来，较为全面地开展了分类学、生态学、沉积学，生物地层学、古海洋环境分析与地质资源勘探应用研究等。

The Taihu Lake is situated in the centre of the dish-like lowlying land south of the Changjiang River, which was resulted from the two dynamic factors, the long-term ground depression at a rate of 0.4 mm/a, calculated from the archaeological data, and the rise of the postglacial sea level that was responsible for the formation of the high coastal plain on the east margin of the dish-like low-lying land.
