Based analyzing and interpreting the MSS,TM,ETM+ remote sensing images at three temporal stages in 1977,1987 and 1999,in this paper the data of dynamic information of land use/cover change in the Reclaimed Area in the lower reaches of the Tarim River since recent 22 years are derived,and the change characteristics of areas,centroidal shift and change process of the main land use/cover types are lucubrated.

ABSTRACT This dissertation, based on the theories of geography, ecology, economics, sociology and environmental sciences, has analyzed the impact of transition between cultivation and pasture animal husbandry on the mechanism of desertification in Kerqin Sandy Region, of which behavior mechanism of local people was emphasized.
