The nonlinear dynamic equations including the initial geometric imperfections of laminated composite cylindrical shells were derived from Hamilton's philosophy. Assuming the transverse displacements to be composed of axially symmetrical part and axially asymmetrical part, the governing equations expressed as displacement forms of dynamic buckling were obtained by Galerkin method. The equations were solved by finite difference method. The effects of impact velocity, lamination angle, initial geometric imperfection on the axial dynamic buckling of laminated composite cylindrical shells were discussed.

In the analysis, a nonlinear wave vibration equation of the thin cylindrical shell including damping and items due to geometric nonlinearities was established and then transformed by Galerkin's method. With different combinations of modes different nonlinear differential equations in modal coordinates were obtained. The Runge Kutta method was used to solve the equations numerically and some features of nonlinear wave vibration were discussed.

A new kind of algorithm, namely mesh searching method, which can be used to evaluate the roundness error, plane straightness error, space straightness error and cylindricity error, were put forward. With this algorithm, the shape error can be obtained by transferring the distance formula repeatedly and simple judgment without linearzing the distance formula (from point to point or point to line) and choosing optimal direction and step length.
