Phodopus roborovskii and Cricetulus barabensis feed mainly on various plant seeds and insects according to the analysis of cheek pouch contents and stomach contents, plant seeds are also primary foods of them and high water-content green plants are needed to replenish water in feeding experiments.

从胃内含物和颊囊内含物分析结果看，小毛足鼠和黑线仓鼠主要以各种植物种子和昆虫为食，从饲喂结果看，也主要以种子为食，并以含水量高的绿色植物体补充水分。

Food habits were studied for four dominant rodents (Phodopus roborovskii, Dipus sagitta, Meriones meridianus and Cricetulus barabensis) inhabiting in Ordos sandland, NeiMongol in 1997. The results obtained by three methods of feeding experiments, analysis of cheek pouch contents, and analysis of stomach contents showed no significant differences basically.

采用笼养饲喂法、野外个体颊囊内含物统计法和胃内含物分析法3种方法，于1997年对内蒙古鄂尔多斯沙地中的4种主要啮齿动物（小毛足鼠Phodopus roborovskii、三趾跳鼠Dipus sagitta、子午沙鼠Meriones meridianus和黑线仓鼠Cricetulus barabensis）的食性进行了研究。3种方法得出的结果基本一致。
