Molave, the 6th tropical storm this year, has gained momentum and become a typhoon early Saturday morning, approaching coasts of southeastern China. Packing winds of 33 meters per second, the typhoon is the strongest tropical storm to hit China this year, churning to make landfall somewhere between central Guangdong and southern Fujian. It will unleash gales and torrential rains in coastal areas early Sunday morning, weather forecasters say.
