In this study, we investigate the heat-induced inhibition of drug-metabolizing enzyme activity in mice fed with freeze-dried, heated freeze-dried or half amount autolyzed freeze-dried Brussels sprouts powder. 0.5% ethoxyquin diet was fed to another group of mice as a positive control. The study mice, four per group, were fed a diet consisting of 20% Brussels sprouts for 7 days. Each group had its own pair-fed group. We found significantly greater inductions of glutathione S- transferase, quinine reductase, and phase Ⅱ drug-metabolizing enzyme activities in groups fed within freeze-dried and heated freeze-dried Brussels sprouts than their pair-fed groups. These findings indicate that intestinal microflora still can hydrolyze glucosinolates without plant myrosinase activity, though the alteration of cytochrome- P-450 1A (CYP1A, a phase Ⅰ drug-metabolizing enzyme) induction was only 1.4-fold.

The application results from fluorination showed microwave heating could accelerate chemical reactions markedly. The reaction time could be shortened 50% at least than that of conventional heating. The relationship between fluorinating agents\' structure and their activity was studied systematically. In addition, an anhydrous KF with higher activity was prepared by using expansion effect of microwave heating. As we known, solvents were very important to reaction. The comprehensive study showed some less polar aromatic solvents could be used as dipolar solvents. In addition, they had better effect than dipolar solvents in some occasions, such as fluorination of chlorobenzaldehydes and chlorinated diphenyl ketones etc. The primary applications of ionic liquids were also studied which indicated reactions with ionic liquids as solvents were more efficient and simple.

The following main results are obtained: The TiO_2 photocatalyst with small crystallite size, high surface area, narrow and uniform pore size distribution, and microporous frameworks could be prepared out by applying MW radiation in the preparation process. The microwave-induced fluorescence technique verified for the first time that microwave enhanced the formation rate of hydroxyl radical, leading to the increase in the photocatalytic efficiency. Compared with the conventional catalyst, TiO_2 prepared by MW dielectric heating owns a higher UV absorption ability, and its optical absorption edge and photovoltaic response are shifted toward the short wavelength region, resulting in increase of photooxidation efficiency. The photocatalytic conversion and the mineralization ratio of acetaldehyde are increased respectively by 30% and 40% over the TiO2 prepared by MW radiation when compared to the TiO2 prepared by the conventional heating. For the MW-assisted photocatalytic reaction over the MW-prepared TiO2, production of hydroxyl radicals is enhanced by 22.5%, and the photocatalytic conversion is accordingly increased by 20%. Similarlly, applying MW also increased the photocatalytic conversion and the mineralization ratio of acetaldehyde over TiO2/Al2O3 sample.
