When Typhoon Ketsana hit the Philippines in late September, it inflicted heavy damage on Barangay Nangka in the Marikina City area of Manila.

九月底，凯莎娜台风重创菲律宾，在马尼拉马利锦那市的囊卡里造成严重灾害，在当地慈济的协助下，受灾民众终於恢复以往的生活，为了回馈慈济，很多人都参加11月的志工培训，而从中了解环保是慈济的志业之ㄧ，於是约有一百位居民一起来到当地环保站用双手护大地。

Barangay Malanday of Marikina City in Metro Manila suffered grave damage during Typhoon Ketsana. Most of the houses in the area were simple wood structures and could not stand the punishment dealt by the flood waters. The area still looks like a dumpsite, making rebuilding impossible. Tzu Chi-Philippines decided to help by adopting a relief work program, to pay victims to clean up their own homes.

位在菲律宾马尼拉大都会的马兰代，受到凯莎娜台风重创，当地多数的房屋都是由木材制成，所以无法抵抗大水的冲刷，这区域还是杂乱的像个垃圾场，居民根本无法开始重建之路，慈济菲律宾志工决定用以工代赈的方式来帮助受灾民众，并调来大型机具增快清扫速度。

Moreover, employees from a local company donated approximately 10 million kyats - or nearly 10,000 US dollars - to Tzu Chi, to help the flood survivors.
