Circuit breakers are the important equipments in the electric power system, which get out of order due to the inactivation in the aspect of insulation characteristic, mechanical characteristic and electric characteristic,the losses that they cause are a few thousands times more than price of themselves.

On the foundation of the analysis,a fault diagnosis method which is an advanced pattern recognition method is proposed and a fault diagnosis system of generator excitation power unit based on virtual instrument is developed.It is proved by experiment that the fault diagnosis system can precisely judge which thirstier goes wrong and get accurate diagnosis result.

The rub-impact between rotor and stator often occurs because the rotor shaft stiffness decreases following the occurrence of the crack in the rotor shaft, and thus the coupling fault with rub-impact and crack is hackneyed fault type. Based on the nonlinear dynamical model of the cracked rotor-bearing system with rub-impact, the stability of the periodic motion and instability way were studied in unbalance-rotating speed plane and rotor/stator clearance- rotating speed plane and crack depth- rotating speed plane, and the main results were validated by the experiment.
