Preliminary investigation on the system performance is conducted on an engine bench. The results show that this method is feasible without any negative influence on diesel power performance. The exhaust gases can be heated up to 500℃ over a wide operating range within a short period.

The paper takes SANTANA LX car as research object and gets the best ignition timing from bench test when running on LPG.And an ignition system is developed whose ignition timing can be switched automatically when engine change to different fuels.Both bench and road tests show satisfactory results
