To deal with the contradiction of agriculture development and water pollution, the trend of increasing paddy area and using amount of fertilizer, pesticide and herbcide in the western Jilin Province should be controlled. Also, the drainage of return flow from paddy should be controlled and return flow should be disposed with ecotechniques by use of the large areas of lakes and mires in the area.
