In this chapter, I point out the location of Lijiang Region and Dayan in the first place, and then analyze the natural environment of Dayan from different angles including physiognomy, climate, biologic resources and tour resources. After it, I study the cultural and social environment of Dayan by the introduction of the ethnologic structure, faith, traditional culture, regime, and folk-custom in this area, which set a background to the following discussion.
