Off-line processing techniques such as free recall, cued recall, recognition and summarization were used in the past researches, these researches could investigate some aspects of the effects of text signals, but they couldn't make accurate conclusions on the processing mechanism of the effects of text signals. Therefore, it was important to probe into the mechanism of the effects of text signals with on-line processing technique of modern cognitive psychology.
