A 1.2 kb fragment of the gyrB gene of 17 Gordonia strains including type strains were determined by direct sequencing of PCR amplified fragments. Total 25 strains (8 were retrieved from public database) of genus Gordonia form a distinct phyletic line in the gyrB-based tree and are separated from other closely-related species of genera to suborder Corynebacterineae.

在Gordonia菌种间之差异研究中则发现12种Gordonia gyrB基因序列相似度介於79.3%-97.2%，16S rDNA的序列相似度为96.2%-99.7%，可知Gordonia放线菌的16S rDNA保留性极高，较难利用此基因序列进行菌种间之区分。gyrB基因之变异程度无论是在菌属，菌种甚至各分离株间均较16S rRNA基因大。

Bacterial strains were isolated from humus mud by employing the dilution methods. Seven cellulose-degradation Strains marked as B-37, B-35,B-31, B-25, B-17, Z-a, and Z-b were selected according to the hyaloid rings on the medium of carboxymethylcellulose sodium Congo red and their efficacy of decomposing filter paper.
