In order to have a better understanding about differences between these two kinds of coating and to estimate the shortage between homemade and imported coated inserts, a series of comparison experiments with the 1Cr18Ni9Ti austenitic stainless steel workpiece were carried out, using 4 types of inserts home and abroad.

A new curvature-based algorithm in free-form curve fitting was proposed to fit a 2D NURBS profile with an arc spline ,where a new form of curvature formula with matrix representation was also proposed,and then the arc spline tool path with G~(1) continuity was generated.

The finite element model was established according as the material and structure of tool, load was used as three way cutting force of blade, tool petiole as fixed bracket, then, distortion and stress distributing of tool haulm was computed.

本课题的总体思路是通过大型有限元软件ANSYS来模拟切削初始阶段中木材的应力场变化，进而得出刀具受力的边界条件，依此为基础求出木材受切时的剪应力及最大等效应力，同时通过变化刀具前角分别对受切工件的变形及应力场进行有限元比较分析，从而确定刀具的优化前角；优化前角确定后，再通过对刀具进行强度校核确定后角优化值。
