Pumpkin ( Cucurbita moschata Duch.)'No.1 Shengzhen'was used as rootstock for melon ( Cucumis melo L.)'Yumeiren'in this experiment, and the own-root plant was used as control. The results showed that the root active absorption capability of grafted melon plants with pumpkin stock increased. The quantity of xylem sap of grafted melon was more than own-root.
