会堂

This lesson Christ was seeking to open to His hearers in the synagogue.

这教训也就是基督在会堂里所要向他的听众阐明的。

When as therefore the first Jesus died, leaving this book almost perfected, Sirach his son receiving it after him left it to his own son Jesus, who, having gotten it into his hands, compiled it all orderly into one volume, and called it Wisdom, intituling it both by his own name, his father's name, and his grandfather's; alluring the hearer by the very name of Wisdom to have a greater love to the study of this book.

由以上所述看来，《德训篇》的原文应是希伯来文。并且耶稣的孙子在序言内也证明：古时的犹太人对他祖父的著作，都很敬重。但究竟为了什麼原故，犹太人渐渐不把本书当作《圣经》，且希伯来原文也没有保存下来，而至失传；这一点我们未能了解。所幸，70年前在开罗的古会堂内，最近又在玛撒达一共发见了《德训篇》的原文三分之一。在此两地发见的「希伯来残卷」，又证实了当初犹太人无论国内或国外，都以本书为正经。虽然后来的经师们不承认本书的正经性，但最古的「希腊和叙利亚译本」都把本书著录在圣经书目内。
