Chronologically, the prophets may be divided into four groups:(1) Amos, Hosea, Micah, and Isaiah, active in the 8th century BC;(2) Nahum, Zephaniah, Habakkuk, and Jeremiah, immediately preexilic (late 7th to early 6th century);(3) Ezekiel and Second Isaiah, exilic period;(4) the postexilic prophets.
