本文从感性现代性、启蒙现代性和审美现代性三种现代性的视角进入五四时期郑振铎文学思想的研究，选取了五四时期对文化界影响比较大的人道主义、科学主义、浪漫主义和古典主义四种社会思潮来观照和考察郑振铎的文学思想，并注意它们之间错综复杂的关系对郑振铎文学思想的影响，在这个基础上进一步研究和思考五四文学现象。

Chapter Six argues that the western preachers\' Euoropeanized vernacular versions of English Bible or Christian hymns played an unestimable part in late Qing dynasty\'s vernacular Chinese movement, the May 4~ vernacular Chinese movement and the May 4~ free verse movement by carding the diachronic change of Chinese literary language at the turn of 20~ century and looking into the relationship between the western preachers\' Chinese versions of English Bible or Christian hymns and the May 4~ vernacular Chinese, especially the free new verses written in the vernacular. The chapter concludes that the activities of remolding classical Chinese by the western preachers at the end of 19~ century are one of the sources of the May 4* new literature, one of the sources of the May 4~ new poetry in particular.

第六章通过梳理中国近代文学语言的历时流变，探究了十九世纪末西方传教士由于基督教圣诗和赞美诗的翻译而对汉语进行的改造活动与五四白话文运动，尤其是与白话新诗的关系，提出了西方传教士19世纪末开始的欧化白话翻译对晚清白话文运动、五四白话文运动以及五四新诗的历时嬗变均有着不可低估的影响和价值的观点，认为他们的翻译活动也是五四新文学，尤其是五四白话新诗的重要源头之一。

Viewing the status of modern Chinese, The present situation of modern Chinese was formed mainly because of the Vernacular's "Europeanized" of May 4th movement. A lot of words and phrases we used today which was formed in the period of May 4th or even earlier. And the grammar of modern Chinese was also constructed on the basis of the "Europeanized" Chinese Grammar of May 4th.

从我们今天现代汉语的现状来看，五四白话文的&欧化&是促成当今现代汉语面貌的重要因素，我们现在所使用的词语很多是五四时期或更前翻译、创造的新词语；我们现代汉语的语法也是在五四欧化汉语语法的基础上建立的。

In the Epilogue, first, I point out that"Science"has on the other hand its dubious effect for May 4 New Litereture; On the angle of Baholkin's dialogue-doctrine, analysed the contain of"Science"as a"foreword"The conclusion of the whole thesis is brief and explicit: studying the influence of outside-from, factors on traditional Chinese culture and the epoch revolu tion from it, we should not solely notice the Western litere ture and art, but should pay sufficient attention to the modern science, knowledge of science history and scientific methods of the west, which had its great significance and played a great function of guiding and moving in many levels the May 4 New Litereture.

结语中，首先指出&赛先生&对于五四新文学也有一定的负面作用；从巴赫金对话主义的角度，分析了&赛先生&作为五四时代&引语&的蕴涵张性。总括全文形成的结论简单而明确：考察本世纪初外来因素冲击中国传统文学而形成的划时代革命，不能仅仅看到西方文艺的影响；还应充分估价西方近、现代科学、科技史知识及相关科学方法等思想渗透，对五四新文学发展各环节、各层面的制导作用及历史意义。

This dissertation focuses on the narrative strategies of the "Spirit of May 4th", that is, how "May 4th" is described. With the comprehensive examination of the fluctuations of Ba Jin"s thoughts and writings in over seventy years of his career, I tend to explicate the complex relations between such fluctuations and the narrations of the "Spirit of May 4th", in the course of which the headways of times and the strata of thoughts are both unfolded. This case study renders to clarify the influences of the different narrations of "May 4th on the literary progress, along with on the creations and practices of writers.

本论文以对&五四精神&的叙述策略即&五四&是怎样被叙述、又是如何被叙述的考察为线索，以巴金七十余年的思想、创作的变化流程为考察对象，从不同时间的推移和多层次的思想层面展开等纵横两个方向，全面梳理了巴金的思想变化与五四精神不同叙述之间的复杂关系，从而通过个案研究来探讨关于&五四&的不同阐释对于文学发展进程、作家创作和人生实践的影响，并藉此返观五四精神在二十世纪中国思想文化进程中所发挥的历史作用及对知识分子的重要意义。
