Objective To observe the change of macrophages in peritoneal cavity, immune function, and TNF-α in peritoneal fluids after a pneumoperitoneum with insufflating carbon dioxide (CO2) or helium in rat model, investigating the effects of different gases on peritoneal local immunity.

They cite improved patient compliance in the trichloroacetic-acid group, ease of performance in the outpatient setting, andsubjective measures of better tolerance as reasons this procedure is an attractive alternative to repeated courses with topicalagents or laser resurfacing.
