During the following century, with continuous accumulation of similar clinical data, the concept and theoretical frame of cerebral laterablization became more and more established. Studies of cerebral lateralization in normal subjects greatly benefited from the use of methods in cognitive psychology, especially the tachistoscope paradigm, while Chinese characters became very useful stimuli in such experiments because they carry both language and picture information.
