本文采用文献研究法，分析传统医学和儒、道、佛的思想内涵，总结它们对中国人传统心理建构的意义和影响；对比分析方法，参考已有材料，对比中国古代不同心理健康学说，心理健康思想和西方不同学派的心理健康观念；跨文化研究的方法，采用了文献档案法，对中西双方在心理健康方面的差异和心理在已有的研究成果进行再研究。
