不能

The following is a letter that recently appeared in the Oak City Gazette, a local newspaper.Membership in Oak City's Civic Club—a club whose primary objective is to discuss local issues—should continue to be restricted to people who live in Oak City. People who work in Oak City but who live elsewhere cannot truly understand the business and politics of the city.

前提是不成立的，因为决定right的最重要的不是是不是住在这个地方而是能不能提供对改地区有帮助的建议以及对该地区的热爱，很可能住在这个地方的人反而没有什么好的建议，而恰恰是在这边工作的人比较有思想，有更多的好点子。

有时候，坚持是奢侈，坚持梦想更加是奢侈，世界也不是它看起来的那样，可是当你望着我的时候，你的眼神象是一把利剑，深深扎进我的心房，舔着我内心的鲜血，熟睡之际，你会用你那温暖而又深沉的音调来保护我吗？你能忍受我的一切吗？不，那我就不能承受痛苦。你曾经对我深信不疑吗？不，那我的感受会反复无常。

I also know that you save, not to waste, but not too much of the bar, milk acid, I would like to throw, so you do not, to say what used to wash your face, have been put inside the refrigerator, you know?

我知道，你埋怨我，怨我懒，怨我什么也不干；我也知道，你爱干净，但是也不能洁癖啊，地都已经擦过了还是不满意，毕竟家里有个不到1岁的孩子，能一直保持整洁吗？

Both the ruling and opposition parties should have learned this from experience. The ruling party cannot ignore opposition party oversight. Nor can the opposition Democratic Progressive Party persist in endless obstructionism.

这一点朝野政党都该深自体会，执政党终究不能完全不理会在野党的监督，在野的民进党也终究不能永远只停留在坚壁清野的抵制阶段，不是吗？

The result of this convenient avoidance is a plentitude of actors who can't project their voices, singers who can't phrase their songs, poets who can't communicate emotion, and writers who have no vocabulary － not to speak of painters who can't draw.

这种方便的逃避的结果，导致了大量不能发出声音的演员，不会解释歌曲涵义的歌手，不能交流感情的诗人，词汇贫乏的作家--更不用说不会作画的画家。

Always fight for progress and reform,never tolerate injustice or corruption,always fight demagogues of all parties,never belong to any party,always oppose privileged classes and public plunderers,never lack sympsthy with the poor,always remain devoted to the public welfare,never be satisfied with merely printing news,always be drastically independent,never be afraid to attack wrong,whether by predatory plutocracy or predatory poverty.

永远为进步和革新奋战；永远不能允许不公正和腐败存在；永远与任何党派的煽动民众者斗争；永远不依附任何党派；永远反对特权阶级和公众利益的掠夺者；永远赋予贫穷者充分的同情；永远致力于公众的福利事业；永远不能满足于只做上版新闻；永远鲜明地保持独立；永远敢于攻击邪恶，无论由富人阶层还是穷人阶层的掠夺者所为。

农夫可以一整天，独个儿地在田地上，在森林中工作，耕地或砍伐，却不觉得寂寞，因为他有工作；可是到晚上，他回到家里，却不能独自在室内沉思，而必须到"看得见他那里的人"的地方去消遣一下，用他的想法，是用以补偿他一天的寂寞；因此他很奇怪，为什么学生们能整日整夜坐在室内不觉得无聊与"忧郁"；可是他不明白虽然学生在室内，却在他的田地上工作，在他的森林中采伐，像农夫在田地或森林中一样，过后学生也要找消遣，也要社交，尽管那形式可能更加凝炼些。
