The 3D topography of fractured surfaces was reconstructed and quantified by the means of SEM stereo pairs, image processing and analysis, and computer vision. It was shown that measured 3D roughness indexes Rs, Rq and Rmax have good positive relations to the crack propagation part of absorbed impact energy.
