After administration of L-N〓-nitro-Arginine, a specific antagonist of NOS, it was found that the basal and stimulated NO release of blood vessels (aorta, internal carotid, renal and mensenteric artery) was decreased further. The increase of coronary blood flow stimulated by Ach was also reduced further, while the platelet aggregation degree and erythrocyte aggregation index increased significantly. Pathological examination indicated that aortic endothelium was destroyed, the blood vessels in cerebral, cardiac and renal tissues were hypertrophied further and some were almost occluded. The increase ratio of brain and heart to body weight and decrease ratio of kidney to body wei ght further demonstrated that the cerebral, cardiac and renal injuries were aggravated.

And this effect could be abolished by BQ123, an antagonist of ETA receptor, partly inhibited by PTX, but not by BQ788, an antagonist of ETB receptor.（2）The activation of ERKs and the increase of ［Ca2+］i induced by ET-1 were obviously inhibited by PD98059, a selective ERKs kinase inhibitor, and nifedipine, a calcium channel blocker, respectively. Both antagonists partially inhibited ET-1-stimulated cardiomyocyte hypertrophic response.(3) Staurosporine, a selective PKC inhibitor, could inhibit ET-1-stimulated cardiomyocyte hypertrophic response and increase of ［Ca2+］i, but not affect the activation of ERKs.

The results indicated that paraquat had a significant effect on soil microflora in thirty days. Paraquat of 0.05~5mg/kg inhibited the growth of funguses, but stimulated the growth of the population of cellulose utilizing microorganism and nitrifying bacteria. The low-density paraquat stimulated the growth of bacteria and actinomyces, but high-density paraquat inhibited their growth.

Results showed that the activity of soil poly-phenol oxidases and acid phosphatase, and soil respiration were suppressed by Starane at 0.5 and 5 mgkg^(-1) dry soil, respectively, during the first several days of experiment, but were slight promoted thereafter. In contrast, treatment with Starane at 50 mgkg^(-1) stimulated at the beginning of experiment but inhibited following that time the activity of soil poly-phenol oxidases and acid phosphatase and soil respiration. Activity of urease was stimulated at the beginning but inhibited in the following days by Starane at 0.5 and 50 mgkg^(-1) dry soil, respectively. However, the pattern of stimulation of urease activity at first several days of experiment followed by reduction to the basil level was observed. With respect to invertase, its activity was constantly depressed in the presence of Starane.
