The results shows that the effect of the speckle noise can be suppressed by displaying OCT images in the logarithmic scale and the speckle properties are correlated with the scattering properties of the tested sample. Additionally, it is shown that OCT with NA = 0.25 has a lower speckle noise and a larger length of single scattering range.

The parallel laser is used to illuminate vertically the nano-particle producing dynamic speckle. The Laser speckle velocity is underlain by the fact that movement of a diffuse object illuminated by coherent light results in a random time variation of a speckle pattern observed in both the image plane and the diffraction field.

Fully and clearly analytic expression of multiwavelet transformation is given .The experiment of speckle reduction to US image is implemented by choosing local error as threshold. Results show that multiwavelet transformation is useful for speckle reduction and there have little noise and reserve important image features such as boundary when compared to results obtained from existing the denoising methods alone.

In this dissertation, based on the extraction of meaningful polarization information, the polarimetric speckle reduction, polarimetric contrast enhancement, polarimetric classification and ship detection in polarimetric SAR images are systemically studied. During the study, some new concepts and methods are introduced, which are supported by the application to measured Pol-SAR data. The innovations of this dissertation are as follows: 1 A simplified schem is proposed to reduce the complexity of scattering-model-based speckle filtering. 2 Extend the expression of polarimetric correlation coefficient to help distinguishing targets. In addition, introduce the quantized parameters of polarimetric signature so as to show the differentiae in quantity in co-polar power, cross-polar power and shapes of polarization signatures among targets. 3 Define a new parameter of difference degree between targets, which can be used for express the difference between both coherent and distributed scatters.

Speckle is also the fundamental uncertainty factor in this kind of sensors. The analytic expression of centroid uncertainty limit is derived from the statistic of laser speckle, and it is shown that the uncertainty limit in RST, and also in anamorphic triangulation, is dependent on the solid angle subtended by entrance pupil as seen from the illuminated laser spot, the triangulation angle, as well as the laser wavelength. The influence of aberration of optical system and surface roughness are also discussed.(4) A method of getting the 3D edge characters based on the integrated vision system is studied.
