Molecular cloning and characterization of the novel lection gene. Primers were designed based on conserved sequences of other lectin genes from Amaryllidaceae. A novel lectin gene was isolated from Zephyrathes grandiflora. The full-length cDNA of Zephyrathes grandiflora lectin was 955bp, containing an open reading frame (576bp) encoding a peptide of 191 amino acids. The gene was named as zga (Zephyrathes grandiflora agglutinin), with its encoding protein showing 59% similarity to GNA.

In this paper, the cDNA sequence from Ampullaria crossean stomach named Dy1300 was obtained by RT-PCR firstly and cloned into vector pMD 18-T. Its ORF named SXYN contains 882bp nucleotide encoding a 294 amino-acid protein. The percentage of similarity of SXYN with the reported cellulase EGX gene sequence from Ampullaria crossean was 89.8%.

At metacommunity level, we compared the effectsof distance and environmental gradient on the community similarity indexes of fourdifferent locations in two hills to seek the mechanism of D diversity formation.

Based on the study of 120 cultivated herbaceous peonies and 8 wild species native to China, the relationship among them was firstly investigated, and the result indicated that 4 narrowly-distributed wild species involving Paeonia sinjiangensis K. Y. Pan, P. anomala L., P. emodi Wallich ex Royle and P. sterniana Fletcher have no chance to be the ancestor of Chinese cultivated herbaceous peonies. Then the difference and similarity existed in the root, leaves and flowers of the wild species and cultivars was exhaustively compared and it is concluded by the equivalent affinity between P. lactiflora Pall. and the cultivars.
