The results show that the glass-ceramics with fibroid structure is produced after definite heat treatment, the main crystallization phase is hedenbergite and anorthite is the minor crystallization phase. The optimal process of heat treatment shows as follows: the nucleation temperature is 850 ℃ and hold time is 100 min, and the crystallization temperature is 980 ℃ and hold time is 80 min. With increasing heat treatment temperature, the FT-IR absorption bands appear obvious split, the aluminum-oxide polyhedron in the glass network changes from [AlO4] to [AlO6]. The titanium ion in the glass network gradually transforms to the 6-coordinated, moreover forms minicrystal of MgTi2O5 and Fe2TiO4 which provides the position of heterogeneous nucleation for the growth of crystal.

The results show that, Main crystallization phase of glass ceramic was hedenbergite, and the minor crystallization phases were augite and hypersthene. With increasing boron mud addition, the amount and the size of crystallization phases both gradually increased, the configure of crystallization phases transformed from the branch, the ball, to the block. The transformation from the branch to the ball could improve the properties of glass ceramic, and the transformation from the ball to the block could worsen the properties of glass ceramic.

Researches on lead borate sealing glasses show that PbO/B2O3 ratio exerts the most important effect on glass network. ZnO is beneficial to stabilize the glass against devitrification . Bi2O3 has little effects on the sealing temperature, while it helps to adjust the thermal expansion coefficient of lead borate glasses in a definitive range. When 0.5~4 mol% GeO2 is introduced, the glass possesses the highest stability and lowest sealing temperature (400 ?C), which is desirable for low-temperature sealing.

To evaluate the bioactivity of the glass-ceramics,the specimens were soaked in the simulated body fluid. The results indicate that fluorapatite shows needle-like microstructure, which is similar to that in human bone and teeth. The formation of needle-like fluorapatite is related to the heat treatment procedure, which results in needle-like fluorapatite crystals by accelerating one-dimension growth along the c-axis through the screw dislocation growth mechanism. The mechanical properties of the glass-ceramics are close to those of the human bone and teeth. The bioactivity test results show that apatite layer is precipitated on the materials surface after 3 d immersion in SBF, which indicates the glass-ceramics have a good bioactivity.

The results show that the density of glass, glass transition temperature and thermal expansion coefficient increase with the increase of yttria content, and the chemical durability decreases with the increase of yttria content. The bend strength of glass increases from 53.52 MPa to 109.65 MPa when 1.80% Y2O3 is added into glass. However, with the content of yttria further increases to 6.84%, the bend strength is suspended about 110 MPa. Y2O3 acting as network modifies in the structure and makes the island-shape network unit repolymerization by the bonding of Ge-O-Y because of the decrease of non-bridge oxygens and strengthening of glass network structure.
