Our results showed that the rhM-CSF (1-149aa) recovered from hemolymph was in its biologically active monomeric form. There are three evidence:(1) The SDS-PAGE patterns were identical under reducing and nonreducing conditions.(2) Colorimetric quantitation using Ellman's Reagent showed the existence of around one free Cystein residue per monomeric rhM-CSF.(3) The alkylated rhM-CSF monomer was biologically active although its activity was slightly lower than that of native rhM-CSF.
