Template-confined growth is a very powerful method for obtaining aligned 1D nanomaterials with adjustable diameter, length and morphology. Porous anodic aluminum oxide templates with different channel structures have been synthesized in our lab, with which the aligned CNT arrays, Y-branching and novel dendriform CNTs have been obtained. Based on the structural characterization of the products, a space-limited and self-catalytic growth mechanism has been proposed accordingly. Roughly speaking, the catalyst particles at the bottom of template channels initiate the nucleation of carbon species, which acts as the seed for subsequent CNT growth.

Copper contaminated soil was selected, Brassica juncea and Elsholtzia splendens plants were used, then simulation experiment, hydroponic culture, column leaching experiment and pot experiment were conducted to study (1) effects of organic chelants on the Cu specition in soil solution and soil soild phase;(2)Effect and mechanism of organic chelants on plant growth and Cu uptake by plant;(3) nutrient addition on plant growth and Cu accumulation;(4) limitation of chelant in soil;(5) Desolving on nutrient and heavy metals in soil and their environmental risk by chelant application and (6) effects of degradable organic chelant and microbial materials on plant growth and phytoremediation efficiency of Cu contaminated soil.

Using ethyne as source gas, CNTs were successfully synthesized by CVD method. By comparing different synthesis technics, the influences of parameter to the grow of CNTs, such as catalysts, growth time, reaction temperature and ratio of all kinds of carrier gases were investigated. The effects of narciclasine isolated from Narcissus tazetta bulb on the growth of two model microorganisms, E.coli and Ceteuisiae fermentum, were studied in this paper. The results revealed that the growth of Ceteuisiae fermentum was obviously inhibited by 20μ.g/mL NCS. The inhibition was about 51%. However, the inhibition of NCS to E.coli growth was hardly observed.

Methods We selected Dengkou as our research site and collected three stages of P. mongolica (before, during and after fissuration) during August 1-5, 2002 and 2003. We used PV technique and measured several water relations parameters (φ,φ, ROWC, RWC,△(subscript φ),ε etc. in different stages of fissurate growth for comparison and analysis of drought tolerance and its mechanisms. Important findings Different stages of P. mongolica had different abilities and pathways to maintain turgor pressure. Fissurate growth decreased the species' drought tolerance and involved multiple adaptations to drought.
